A Non-Profit Weatherization Agency
The Community Energy Conservation Program, Inc. (CECP) is a non-profit agency funded by the U.S. Department of Energy as part of the Virginia Weatherization Assistance Program. We provide free weatherization services to low and moderate income households in the Charlottesville and Staunton areas (see Counties/Cities We Cover).
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 changed income requirements making more people eligible for our services. You may qualify whether you rent or own, live in a mobile or traditionally built home, or live in an apartment. Please see FAQ and Application Information for more information on who may be eligible.
The Benefits of Weatherization
Once you have completed the application process and been approved, we will do an energy audit. We'll search for ways heat and air conditioning may be leaking from your home – through windows, doors, walls, etc. – and make the needed repairs or add insulation. We will also inspect your heating system for safety and efficiency, and make repairs or replace the system if needed. As a result, you'll stay warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and save as much as 30% on fuel bills!
CECP acts as an agency for other state funded programs as well. Please go to What We Do for more details.
